The late Maurice Graham started his building materials business in 1988 and today, 29 years later it is now a Hardware, Plumbing & Heating, Home & Gift, Decor, Gardening, Electrical and a much-loved coffee shop. The business continues to be run by Maurice’s family, who strive to continue his principles of stocking quality products backed up with product knowledge and personal customer service.
“At Grahams of Monaghan, customers are our number one priority and their customer experience. We work hard on our customer service and want each individual to feel a part of the culture we have built over the years.”
All the team at Grahams of Monaghan pride themselves on adapting to a continually changing market and delight in welcoming new strands to every developing family business. “We are not just a store, but a shopping experience at the heart of Monaghan.”
Everything that a destination store should be is “a beginning for something”
A new house project, a celebration of an event with a gift, a wedding plan, a garden project, a dinner party, Christmas with family and decorations, a new colour in your living room or bedroom, a coffee or lunch with friends, a date over a slice of cake and a cappuccino, all are the “beginning of something beautiful”.
A passion of ours is to help with local charities, fundraisers and sports teams through sponsorship. When it comes to helping our local community, we contribute with sponsorship, providing long-term support for ongoing projects or schemes. We hold many fundraising events, for local charities such as Hope Food Bank, Crocus; a Support Group for those living with a cancer diagnosis and other charities that have a particular meaning to employees.
As a family run business, we strive to improve the community development of Monaghan town. The late Maurice Graham started this building materials business in 1988 and today it now employs over 50 local people. We work closely with Monaghan County Council mainly with the Monaghan Town Team and Monaghan Retail Team who help co-ordinate town branding, improve footfall in the town centre and also focus on the economic vitalisation of Monaghan Town.
We love to help the local health services and charities with free will donations. Whether this be through providing paint to community projects and the health services, palettes to the local Men's Shed or simply giving back to our customers. We try to help those who provide help and support to others or try to thank our customers who have supported us through the years.
We pride ourselves on being a destination store with many customers travelling from a far, bringing visitors to the town of Monaghan and in doing so, help boost the local economy. Recently we have been working closely with Hotels in the surrounding areas to try and help bring more tourists to our town. We are not just a store, but a shopping experience at the heart of Monaghan and an ambassador for our local community.
